You asked about Jeremiah Kettle I have one on my side of the family. My father was Lester Kettles born 1916 Missouri,His father was William Alvin Kettles born Born May 14,1887in Ky.His Father Thomas Jefferson Kettles Born May 4,1847 in Tennessee Died February 2,1907,His Father John Kettle Born 1814 N.c. in N.C. died unk in Missouri,His Father was Micajah Kettle Born 1786 in N.C. Died Unknown in Smith County Tennessee,His Father Christopher Kettle Born Unknown Died in February 1798 in N.C. I went to Granville County N.N. They were there and owned land there . His wife I think lost it because women could not have land is what I was told do not know this to be true.It list his wife as Barbary some other children in the family for sure were was William and he had a son name Jeremiah in the 1860 N.C. census for Granville it is William 79 born N.C. Jeremiah 32 born N.C. Alekia 30 and Eudora 1. However in 1850 his children were Mary 25,Nancy 23 and Jerry 22. Anyway in the census for Christopher there was a daughter named Barbara who lived with her Mother as her Mother got older. I beleive I read later where Jeremiah Kettle was in a war or something . I have a lot of info books and books I will try to go through in and see if I can fd what happened to him. I know Micajah and his son John moved to Smith County Tennessee and I did find them on the census. In the orginal 1790 census of N.C. there was Ben ,Chris and William . Ben and Wm were in Wake County and Christopher was in Granville these two counties attached out of Raleigh,N.C. close to Virginia.census of 1784-1787 1wm 21-60,3wf all ages,5wm under 21 aove 60. Of these three sons one was Chris Jr. one was Willaim and one was Micajah.I beleive Christopher and James were brothers still working on that. My name is Mary Elizabeth Kettles Ellis. Lester Kettles was my Father. They added the s on their name when they moved to Missouri . I do not know why because they could read and write and one old man told Dad that his Granfather Thomas Jefferson Kettles could read and lots of people could not so they would meet at a local store and he would read the news to them before they had radios. I done my family history in the 9th grade at scool and hardly had anything to go on and now years later and two computers later it is still growing and still working on mine and now my husbands. If you have anything different please let me know . I spent years on the road and in libraries and court houses as well as genealogy departments in lots of states to find this out and document it.
