Hi Rick,
I believe we might have found a connection but I am baffled by some of the dates. The correct date for Wilhelm Kiel, Jr.'s birth is 12-17-1929 not 1928 as shown on his tombstone
in the Rehburg Cemetery. The 1929 date was listed in family information kept by Wilhelm Kiel's granddaughter who was a school teacher in Washington County and who was known to pay meticulous attention to detail. This date is confirmed by the LDS site. The confusion comes in with the birthdate of Heinrich Kiel and Karoline Kiel.According to the records of the Berlin Church of Washington County Karoline Kiel was born August 26, 1833, whereas the LDS site shows March 21, 1832.Different birthdates are also shown in the Washington County records and the LDS site for Heinrich Kiel.
As far as Brasure and Broesche being the same, I would almost bet on it.I am constantly amazed at the various spellings I run across for Kiel, Hohlt and the other German names I am researching. A lot of information takers wrote down what they thought they heard and didn't bother to check spellings, etc.
I have a copy of the Washington County cemetery book and would be happy to look up names of Broesches in it if you want.Just let me know.
I know we are getting closer to solving this puzzle. We just need to keep trying.
Kate
