I have a Mary Kierce, (who married William West in 1855 in Plenty River, Australia) who came out by assisted passage from County Clare, Ireland at the age of 19. With her on board the CREDENDA, in 1953, were Martin 17, Anne 15 and Michael 14. The boys went to work on farms at Geelong, and the girls as domestics for different employers in Melbourne and Chilwell. Martin was the only one of them who could read and write. He was engaged @ 90 pounds per annum, which seemed rather high for one so young; Michael for 25 pounds, Mary for 20 and Anne for 15, plus rations, all of them bound (indentured)for 3 months.
