Boy have I been waiting and trying to find you. I am one of Jonathan Kiggins descendants through James, Alexander, John Frederick, Mabel Emma, married John Farrell, Adrain Albert married Neoma Pillow, and here I am. I do not mean to be insulting, but after examining what my cousin's Andrew Flack and Ron Myers have from you and else where, I am wondering where is the proof that we are descended from James Kegan and Sophia Pickel. I have seen the oral family history from my grandmother Mabel Emma Kiggins and she probably got a lot of her information from her sister Edna Kiggins Stoutenberry and cousin Helen Bercaw. I have also spoken with Mary Lou King extensively and have as yet not seen any proof that her Thomas Kiggins was brother or father to my Jonathan Kiggins. nor a confirmed date of birth for Thomas Kiggins. I wonder have you examined that Kiggins family of Ohio County, Virginia yet. in the 1850 Census I find and have copies of. John Kiggins age 84 and family, born Virginia. also Samuel Kiggins age 81 and family, born Virginia. A further mention of John Kiggins. in the 1860's or 70's one Elizabeth Kiggnons married one E. G. Craft near Wheeling West Virginia. the ggreat granddaughter of one John Kiggnons a veteran of the Revolutionary War and owner of a nearby plantation. Or of the three or four Kiggins or like spelling that served in the revolutionary war from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Of Karbury or Charles Kiggins that immigrated to Virginia in 1649 and 1653 respectively. I am aware that names change for whatever reason, i.e. a great grandfather of mine was named Jonathan Farrell, yet his father was named James Ferrel, and his great grandfather was named Gabrial Ferril. But I need more to go on than there was a James Kegan born in Philadelphia, possibly to James Kegan and Sophia Pickle then moved west through Ohio and may have had brother's named Jonathan, Robert, and Thomas. The greatest concentration of Kiggins that I find now is in the Washington and Allegany Counties of Pennsylvania, yet the more that I search I still find no record of Kiggins or even a like sounding in that area of Pa. before the mid 1800's, but I find a lot of them in the pan handle of West Virginia.
I hope that you don't take me wrong. I am wondering if you descend from James Kiggins brother Lewis Kiggins. Hope to hear from you.
