Mary and James were married in Detroit in 1907 (I think, I don't have the info in front of me) Witnesses were James Kiley and Kate Kiley.I do know that they were married by a Richard Command, Pastor. As I knew James was a Roman Catholic and that he and Mary apparently buried a child in St. Patrick's Cemetary in Carleton, MI. I called the Arch Diosese of Detroit, but Pastor Command was not a priest. So I am still trying to locate the chuch (possibly Episcopal).Mary was James' second wife, his first wife died in 1906, leaving behind 3 children.
Mary's residence is listed as Exetor Twp. Michigan on the marriage certificate.Although I have yet to find any Kiley's in that area in the census.
They apparently lived in Trenton,(Wayne Co.) and perhaps in Carleton, (Monroe Co.)We have some information from a relative (now deceased), she claimed that they had lived in Detroit on Stark St.I haven't yet gone to look at the city directories to verify this.
I have found Kiley's living in Wyandotte, Wayne Co. MI in 1870.David was the head of the household and there is a Mary listed but the age does not fit. (She is 2 years old)As well as the fact that Mary named her father as Thomas.I thought perhaps that they may have been relatives but I can find no connection so far.
We have no information on when Mary died or if she was even still married to James' when he passed.James' eldest daughter apparently did not like Mary because she is not mentioned in his obit at all.If memory serves, James' died in 1941 or 43, in Monroe, Michigan.
Just a side note... Mary was nicknamed 'Red' according to an inscription on a photograph.
I have more information on James if you would like it. Thanks for the reply Barb
