I am so pleased to have your message,Carolyn.I have not managed to link up with Dustin and i'm wondering if he is related to the "John and Helen Kilgour" from Mintlaw? There certainly seem to be many Kilgours! My brother once gave me a book called "The New World Book of Kilgours" published by Halbert's Family Heritage. This is my first time doing "Online research" Before this I had been collecting photos and details of my father's family and then a few questions came up sodecided to pay to learn more. I am especially keen to find out more about George. Here is what I know:He was the 3rd child of my grandparents; Elspet (Elsie) Johnston b.1867 m. Alexander Kilgour b.1860 George was born in 1892 near Mintlaw,Aberdeenshire. He lived on variousfarms in the area with his family. There were 10 children and my father was the last b.1910 george married Ethel Barker but i don't know the details.i assume it was before the ww1 and they had a daughter. From hearsay I think G, served in ww1 in the Gordon Highlanders probably on the western front. But his brother Robert who died in the war enlsted in th Highland Light Infantry so I wonder if George did too or if he enlisted in the local regiment (The Gordons) The next info is that George, Ethel and child went to Calgary,Alberta and sadly George died soon after on 27 December 1918 aged 26 years. The family think he had the terrible Influenza. His wife and child are supposed to have mived to Vancouver sometime later but we lost all contact.
