Hi Patrick,

I have about 20 KILCURs in my database of KILKER family names. I don't know what the relationship is between the two names, but knowing the variety and reasons for misspellings and misunderstandings, I could believe that the names were the same at one time. My KILCUR names come from the US Census reports--the ones I just looked up were from the 1900. Just to start at a random spot, I looked for a Patrick in my database and found one born in Ireland in January 1870, no spouse data, children: Bridget, John, and Ann. Patrick's parents were Rodger KILCUR, born January 1840 in Ireland, and Bridget McANDREW, born March 1840 also in Ireland. Both son and father were coal miners in Lackawana County, Pennsylvania. Given names tend to be repeated down a family line so this may be a lead for you. I'd check the census reports as a beginning, then the vital records. Maybe other KILCURs in the Philadelphia area telephone books have some clues. If you'd like further information about my KILCURs, let me know.

Regads,

'Jery' KILKER
