I was so happy to see a message posted by David Killen (ID***1377) of Sept.10/03 in reply to Killen, Samuel, Andrew, John, Ireland by Joanne Roe. James Killen's grandson, Clifford Bowman Reid, is my father! James Killen is my great grandfather! Dad passed away in 1982 at the age of 88 (almost 89).
I've been working on the Family Tree, but it sounds as if David has been working on this a lot longer than I, as he has a wealth of information.
Dad wrote to all his children in July 1967 which is quite similar to the letter of 1976 referred to in David Killen's message) and is the basis of my information, with a few things added here and there.
My husband and I are leaving tomorrow for Edinburgh and we will be in Donegal Town May 4th and 5th. I hope to be able to take another picture of that mill if it still exists. Mom and Dad took a photo in 1960 when they travelled there. It appears there are no Killens left in Donegal, as most of the sons have emigrated.
It seems that Thomas Frizzell (brother of Margaret Frizzell who married James Killen) remained in Ireland. Perhaps we'll be able to find some Frizzells in the telephone book.
David, if you still have that old photograph of a man and a woman and two very small children in front of a frame house in a forest, it's one that we don't have. My grandmother, Mary Jane Killen, would have been the eldest of James/Margaret's children. I would be thrilled if you could scan the photo and send it to me.
Any other information would be most welcome, David.
