Hi, I'm trying to trace my Killick relatives, in particular finding out a bit more about my maternal great great granfather, George Killick My maternal grandmother was Evelyn Killick, born 24/7/02 in Manchester Her father was Edward (Philip) Killick, born 1870 in York. His father was I believe George Killick, born 1838 in SUSSEX. In the 1871 Census George is listed as a being a Corporal in the 3rd Hussars, living in York Cavalry Barracks. He is listed as being married to Jane (aged 28, born Manchester), with Philip Edward just 8 months old, born in York. The story in my family is that we had an a cavalry officer who served at some stage in India and in addition to being a bit of a cad also won some honours. The George Killick I have details for appears to have disappeared before the 1881 census; but as he was a soldier he may have been overseas or dead. Can anyone help me any further with George and his military adventures? It appears (Philip) Edward had a sister, Florence, born 1873 in Canterbury. Any help would be appreciated.
