People talk about having "brick walls" in their genealogy research and I have finally found mine.
My great-grandfather, George Jefferson KIMBLE, was born, according to his death certificate and his tombstone in Clark Springs Cemetery in Ouachita County, Louisiana, 6 Dec 1872 in Arkansas.Death certificate says Howard County, but I am not sure about that.He married first, Ida O'BRYANT, (my great-grandmother) second, Martha Jane (Thornton) ERSKINS.Finding out who his parents are is my brick wall.
George's death certificate lists his father as Jefferson KIMBLE, born Arkansas and mother unknown. When my grandmother was still living she told me she thought his mother's name was Ellie SKAGGS/SCAGGS.
I have turned the 1880 census inside out and cannot find George as an 8 year old, nor a Jefferson Kimble.I cannot find Jefferson Kimble in the 1870 or 1860 census of Arkansas, nor can I find a burial, marriage record, etc for a Jefferson Kimble or Ellie Skaggs.
I have exhausted all I can think of to try.Does anyone out there have these people in their line?
