Back more than 5 years ago, I did some research on the early Kimbles of Hardy Co. Virginia, now W.V. I'm not related, but I was working on a book about the Alt family and they seem to be connected in early Virginia.
Here's what I have on Harmonas:
Born ca 1778 Hampshire Co. VA, d. June 25, 1859 Grayson Co. KY. Married Lydia Allen. The Grayson Co. Kentucky death records shows his parents as John and N. Kimble and his age as 81 years. A document is supposed to exist that gives his mother as Nancy "Ro___ or Bo___". It is in very poor condition and her surname cannot be confirmed.
Harmonas was probably one of the two white tithes listed in John Kimble's household in 1797(Hardy Co. VA Personal Property Tax List). He was a witness on May 20, 1798 to a deed from John Kimble to Jonathan Hutton. (Hampshire Co. VA Deed book 4, pp. 341, 342)
Oct 15, 1798 Harmonas Kimble to James Snodgrass 44 acres for $100. It was first conveyed to Harmonas by John Nessel on Sept 12, 1798.Hardy Co. VA Deed Book 4, pp. 391, 392.
Harmonas and his family moved to Grayson Co. KY where they were counted on the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses. Harmonas appears on the 1815 and 1825 Grayson Co. KY tax lists.
Children of Harmonas and Lydia: 1.John Kimble b. 1802, married Susan ____ 2.William Allen Kimble b. 1804, married #1 Hannah F. Hayes, #2 Mary Ann Neuman 3.Lucinda Kimble b. 1809 4.Sarah Kimble married Jaochim Layman 5.Lewis Kimble b. 1811, d. 1875, married Elizabeth Woods 6.Benjamin Tolbert Kimble b. 1815, married Sarah Wood 7.David A. Kimble b. 1824, married Amelia A. Durban
I did quite a bit of research on John Kimble Sr. in the early Hampshire and Hardy Co. VA records. Too much to include here.
