Hi, Kristina - In a way, I've been searching for you.James Kingen was b. 1825/1835 in OH.He served in the Mexican War 8 Oct 1847 to 28 Jul 1848 in Co. D, 5th IN Vol.Filed a pension application 28 Feb 1887 (I have never requested a copy of it, but my source says that he was listed as James Kingham and wife Mary of IN and IL).He first m. 25 Sep 1850 Hancock Co., IN Eleanor Jane Smith b. 8 Sep 1832 VA d. 30 Nov 1860 Hancock Co., IN buried Cook-Caudell Cem. With her he had 3 children:Eliza June b.c. 1851, Mary M. b.c. 1854, and James B. b.c. 1857 (1860 census, Hancock Co., IN Vernon Twp.).After Eleanor's death, he married 17 Nov 1861 Mary Jane Brenner (could easily be Brammer or some other variant - I have no data on this family).I have been unable to locate the family in the 1870 census, but the clues point to a short stint in MO about this time. However, in 1880 James and Mary were in Newton Co., IN Lincoln Twp.I've just recently picked up their trail in the Pacific Northwest.Check out the 1910 census, Nez Perce Co., ID Bedrock Precinct (images 21 & 22), which shows Riley Kingen with 3 sets of twins born in succession! I think this Riley was your Elizabeth's next oldest sibling. I have some sketchy info. on other siblings of Elizabeth and Riley, but not much proof as to whether I've made all of the right connections or not.As for ancestors, James Kingen was the son of John Kingen b. 10 Oct 1802 (though reported as 1800) VA.His obituary says that he was born in Rockbridge Co., VA, but I have not found any verification of that.John died 8 Sep 1890 and was buried in the Barrett-Bussell Cem., Hancock Co., IN.He married Nancy (?Mary) Bowers b. 1801 OH d. 1848 Hancock Co., IN and buried in same cemetery.(John married a second time, but had no children with his second wife).John and Nancy had 7 children.I have data on all of them.I believe but cannot prove that John was the son of William Kingen b.(guess) 1775/1783 VA (according to census reports of his children) d. 1820/1830 probably Jackson Twp., Highland Co., OH.His wife's name was Barbara Ann, but I don't know her surname. She was b. 12 Feb 1783 PA d. 13 Jun 1860 Hancock Co., IN buried Barrett-Bussell Cem.William and Barbara had 7 children.I have sound data on 5 of them, but speculation on the other 2.I will be happy to share what I have.I hope that you might be able to fill me in on the WA/ID Kingens in exchange. If you rather, you can e-mail me direct. If I'm a bit slow in responding, please be patient.
