I think I may have some information from you. Keep in mind that my records are, themselves, a little fuzzy, so there are a few discrepancies…
Robert Pow Kinghorn was born March 4, 1844, and died May 27, 1928. He worked at the Soo Line RR as a warehouse man. He is interred at Oakland Cemetery (MN). This was his obituary: “May 27, 1928: At St. John’s Hospiutal, Robert P. Kinghorn, aged 84 years.Beloved father of Mrs. C. E. Peters, Mrs. William Rockstroh of S. Paul, John of Juneau Alaska, Sam of Coquitlam, B. C.,Clifford of Seattle Wash.Also six grandchildren.Funeral from Guthunz Chapel, 677 E. 7thSt. at Maria.Tuesday May 29, 2:30 p.m.Interrment at Oakland Cemetary.”
He married Annie (or Anna?) May Woods. She was born August 29, 1853 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. She died in St. Paul on February 24, 1907. My understanding is that she died of uterine cancer at the age of 54. Her father was Samuel Woods of Fletcher, Ontario, and her mother was Mary Woods. This was her obituary: “In St. Paul, Minn Feb 24, 1907 at family residence, 396 East 7th St., Annie M. wife of Robert P. Kinghorn, aged 54 years.Notice of funeral later, Astoria council No. 5, Samaritans, Diamond Lodge No. 116, D.of H. Modern Protective Association, Ramsey Lodge No. 41, and Ladies of the G.A.R.”
Robert and Annie had 5 children: John, Mamie, Samuel, Albert, and Dolly May.
John Robert Kinghorn was born August 28, 1871, and died in 1951 in Juneau, AL. He married Coral Bliss on August 22, 1902. Coral was born in 1886, and died in 1918. John and Coral had 3 children: Clifford, Tessie, and Francis. (1) Clifford Bruce Kinghorn was born July 2, 1903, and died around 1990. Clifford married Elizabeth Knowles, who was born in 1908, and died in 1981. Clifford and Elizabeth had three children. (1.a) Coral Margaret Kinghorn was born in 1928, and married Peter Duckworth. They lived on Woodby (sp?) Island near Vancouver BC, and had four children: Donald Duckworth (who was actually Ethel’s son, but Coral adopted him), Todd Duckworth, and Shane Duckworth. (1.b) Ethel May Kinghorn was born in 1934, and married a man named Herbert (don’t know his last name). She gave birth to Donald at age 18, and he was adopted by Coral. They had no other children. (1.c) Bruce Albert Kinghorn was born in 1938, and married Marilyn Patrician Peterson (born in 1939). Bruce has three children: Patrick Bruce (adopted), Erin Lynn, and Megan Beth. (2) I have no information on Tessie Kinghorn, except that she was born May 13, 1905. (3). I also have no information on Francis Kinghorn, except that she was born in 1913.
Mamie (or Minnie?) E. Kinghorn was born July 5, 1874, and died February 12, 1960. Her first marriage was to Joseph Rochstroh. Joseph was born in 1871, and was killed on November 9, 1898, in a railroad accident at the age of 27. He is buried in Lakeland Cemetery. Joseph had two sisters (Susan Rochstroh and Anna Rockstroh Trost), and three brothers (John Jr. Rockstroh, Jake Rockstroh, and William Rockstroh). This is Mamie’s obituary: “From obituary: Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie E. Rockstroh, 85 of 1868 Stillwater Ave.died Friday in the Haven Nursing home 334 Mounds Blvd.Will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Hazel Park Congregational Church, E. Minnehaha Ave. and Van Dyke St.Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetary, Lakeland Minn. Born in Shakopee, Minn, Mrs. Rockstroh had been a resident of St. Paul about 60 years.She was a member of Oriental chapter No. 187 O.E.S., the White Shrine, Star of the East No. 10, the Degree of Honor, Diamond Lodge No. 11, and the St. Croix Beach Womens Club.Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. E. P. Cole, St. Paul; two sons: Robert J., Oakridge Tenn., and William F., St. Paul; a sister, Mrs. C. E. Peters, St. Paul; a brother, Sam Kinghorn, Vancouver, B.C., Canada and 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.’” Mamie and Joseph had three children: Ivy, Robert, and Chauncey. (1) Ivy Myrtle Rochstroh was born December 14, 1890, and died March 11, 1970. She married Everett Patrick Cole on February 6, 1916. Ivy had ten children: (1.a) Marvel Cole was born December 5, 1911. She married Betram Old on August 17, 1838. They lived in Stillwater, and had two children: Tobias and Timothy. (1.b) Joseph Cole was born May 29, 1913, and left home for California in 1937. He married Florence Mayer in 1945. They have three children. (1.c) Lucille Cole was born December 17, 1915, and died May 31, 1993. She married Wallace Behr, and had three children. (1.d) Virginia Cole was born November 27, 1917, and died December 25, 1988. She married Victor Pasiuk, and had six children: Roger Allen (born July 11, 1935), James Victor (born February 10, 1936), Jane (born June 8, 1937), Catherine, MaryJo, and another son born in 1939. (1.e) Georgia Cole was born November 3, 1918, and married Lawrence Knipe. (1.f) Richard Cole was born December 17, 1920. He joined the Navy on January 23, 1939, and was at Pearl Harbour during the attack in WWII. His wife was named Kitty. (1.g) Elsa Myrtle Cole was born August 27, 1922, and married Lt. Col. Ridgely (sp?) Dupont Kemp. They had two girls. (1.h) Sally Cole was born April 17, 1924. She married Robert Bussier, and had three children: Sandy, Ebba Jean, and Robert. I believe she later divorced. (1.i) June Cole was born January 1, 1926, and married John Nordgren. They had two children: Linda and Joseph. (1.j) Everett Patrick Cole was born August 29, 1928, and married Jane. They moved to Seattle, WA. (2) Mamie’s second child was Robert John Rockstroh. He was born August 18, 1892. He married Elsa Gensch on September 17, 1913. They had two children: (2.a) Robert Rochstroh II (married Louise; one child: Robert Rochstroh III), and (2.b) Jane Rochstroh (born August 9, 1926), who married Marvin Jahr and had no children. (3) Mamie’s third child was Chauncey Hosteph Rockstroh, who was born January 27, 1897, and died August 13, 1898, at the age of one.
After her first husband, Joseph, died, Mamie married his brother, William Joseph Rockstroh on May 20, 1904. Mamie and Bill had one child, (4) William Frederick Rockstroh. William was born April 14, 1905, and died June 25, 1974. Bill first married Cosette Callender, and later divorced. Bill’s second marriage was to Irene Ellen Angel in 1944. Bill and Irene had two children: (4.a) Joann Audrey Rockstroh (born January 19, 1946), and (4.b) Dennis William Rochstroh (born April 25, 1948).
Samuel Centennial Kinghorn was born August 18, 1877, and died April 7, 1963. His middle name is ‘Centennial’ in deference to the one-hundredth anniversary of the US (the year he was born). He was born in Eagle Creek, MN, and lived in Coquitlam (sp?) B.C., and Vancouver, B.C. He died in Vancouver. He married Alvina Rogers on July 1, 1902, and had no children of which I am aware.
Albert Clifford Kinghorn was born August 14, 1883, and died July 14, 1971, in Seattle, WA. I have no information on him.
Dolly May Kinghorn was born August 14, 1883, and died July 14, 1971. She was born in Scott County, Shakopee, MN, and married Charles Elmer Peters. She is interred at Ft. Snelling Cemetery with her husband. Dolly and Charles had only one daughter, Dorothy Kinghorn Peters. Dorothy was born March 30, 1927, in St. Paul, MN. She married Russell D. Miller, and they have three children: Jane, Bonnie, and Gary. (1) Jane Louise Miller was born August 11, 1950 in St. Paul. She is married to Gerald Eugene Tschida (born April 14, 1947), and they have three children: (1.a) Jennifer Anne Tschida, born April 15, 1977, and married to Jonathan Hobbs on August 24, 2003, (1.b) Jeffrey Alan, born January 15, 1981, and (1.c) James Steven, born July 13, 1984. (2) Bonnie Kay Miller was born April 9, 1953, in St. Paul. She is married to Joseph Martin Gierzynski, and they have two children: (2.a) Sara, born October 7, 1978, and (2.b) Peter. (3) Gary Peter Miller was born Jaunary 3, 1957 in St. Paul. He is married to Barbara Jean, and they have two children: (3.a) Benjamin, and (3.b) Zachary.
