Looking for family members
My name is Cynthia Kingman, I am married to Ian Rothberg and we live in NJ.
(My old fourm post id was [email protected])
My Dad is Robert Kingman and his Dad is George Kingman.
We all started out in Brooklyn, NY about 100 years ago. (My grand parents)
I do not know much about my fathers side of the family accept for the name of my grandfather and his 2 brothers.
My grandparents died 20 years ago before I really got to know them and to be interested in family heritage.
Since then I have come across several Kingman's that are not part of my immediate family.
One branch is the Raff's - I understand from Nancy (Raff) that her father was originally a Kingman that was adopted by the Raffs. The Kingman family that he came from lived in Arizona.
Over the years I have lost touch with Nancy and was wondering if anyone knew the Raff family?
Anyway, my Grandfather was George and his 2 brothers were Gene and Aubrey.
Aubrey had no children; Gene had 4 - 2 boys, 2 girls
My grandfather George had 3 - 2 boys, 1 girl.
Robert - my dad, George, and Mable.
Mable-May - didn't have any children, but she did foster a couple (don't know there names)
George had 3, Christine, Leslie, and Thomas. (Thomas died, leaving no children)
Leslie doesn't have any kids, but Christine has 2 - 1 boy and 1 girl.
(Again do not know their names)
Robert - my dad, had 4 - 3 girls, 1 boy.
Robert (jr), Patricia, Janet, and myself.
We are all married and live in different states now.
Bob - married Faye Hokallah, they live in MN, and have 2 kids, 1 boy-Robert, 1 girl-Lynn. Robert #3 has 1 child - Casey - a little girl. Lynn does not but she is married.
Bob since divorced Faye and married Linda Davidson. They still live in MN.
Patricia - married Richard Hough, they live in OH, and have 2 girls that are both married. Tricia and Kathleen - neither one has children - yet.
Janet - married Dr. Owen Kieran and lives in CT. They have 9 kids, 6 girls, and 3 boys.
None are married and none are over 21.
I am Cynthia - I cannot have children, but I plan to adopt one day. (Family trait unfortunately)
This is most likely more information then anyone needs - but I am hopeful someone can help.
My Grandmother Kingman (Mabel Betz) always told me when I was growing up, that we come from a very old, very big family, and that we are all related in way or another.
It would be really nice if this was true, I would like to meet some other Kingman family members.
I know quite a bit about my mother’s side of the family (Wright/Hubble)- but very little about my fathers, we were never very close, don't know why.
I remember when I was very little, when I would stay with my grandmother. She would take me to visit my cousins for birthday parties, and all I could remember about them is that they were not from NY - they were always from out of town.
Well anyway if someone can help me with my quest, that would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Cynthia Kingman-Rothberg
