Hi Shiloh, Here is a bit of Wayne County, NY, Kingsley info. It is printed in a little book, "History of the Churches of Sodus" by Lewis H. Clark, published in Sodus in 1876. The references are scattered through this book. It is a gathering of first person interviews and church records. I can't vouch for accuracy. Putting together the various bits, along with a little of my husband's family history found on-line at the LDS website(not verified by official documents), it seems that Elijah Kingsley and Sarah Crosby Kingsley gave birth to Flavel Kingsley June 13, 1787 in Stockbridge MA. Flavel Kingsley came to this area(Wayne County, but at that time it might have been Ontario County or some other)where, in 1804, he bought land from the Holland Land Company Purchase (note that, in what is now the Town of Marion, Wayne Co., E. Kingsley is listed with a farm in 1816). Then Flavel moved to Sodus, NY, now Wayne County. Sometime before 1809 or 1814 (dates in the book seem to contradict each other) he married Sarah Johnson (maybe known as "Sally Kingsley"). Their children included Louisa (my husband's g.g.grandmother), Achsah (best name award!), and Elijah. Flavel died April 8, 1854. He was a founder of the Presbyterian Church in Sodus in 1812, but "entertained strong congregational sentiments" and declined to be elected to the office of Elder. The timber from his farm was used to build the first Presby. church, around 1831. That's it, until I can find more references. Sorry it is not your John Kingsley, but maybe something here will lead you to him.C.S.
