Ken, I live in Va Beach, VA and am descended from Daniel Lucy who came to Jamestown Colony in about 1615 at the request of his cousin Richard Kingsmill who was already here. When Daniel died in 1627 he still owed Kingsmill 500-pounds of tobacco, probably for the passage of he and his family to Jamestown (no, you cannot collect on it now).I've been wanting to make contact with the Kingsmill side as it relates to my family.I have an article from the Virginian Pilot and the Ledger Star dated Sunday, 9/9/1990, describing the tombstone belonging to Richard Kingsmill's daughter, Elizabeth, b. 1625, d. 11/2/1691, wife of Nathaniel Bacon Esq. It is located in the churchyard of St. Paul's Episcopal church here in downtown Norfolk, VA.It illustrates the arms of both the Tayloe and Kingsmill families. The inscription reads: "Here lyeth the Body of Elizabeth wife to the Honorable Nathaniel Bacon Esq who Departed this life the Second Day of November one Thousand Six Hundred Ninety One in the Sixty Seventh yeare of her Age." She was buried at Kings Creek, and the Rev. Nicholas Albertson Okeson, rector of St. Paul's from 1856 to 1882 who discovered the stone and had it removed to Norfolk, date unknown.I have the entire article with a photograph if you are interested and I'd be glad to share info with you.It describes the problems with the younger Bacon "the Rebel."Elizabeth was first married to Wm. Tayloe when she was 15.After his death and before 1676 she married Bacon Sr of Kings Creek plantation in York Co.An earlier Richard Kingsmill, had a daughter named Constance who married Sir Thomas Lucy II of Charlecote, Warwickshire, England and that was in the late 1500's.You should be aware that in July 2007 there will be a celebration of the founding of Jamestown, an ideal time to do some snooping around (visit http://www.apva.org)--theyhttp://www.apva.org)--they have a number of books available at the site.Bacon's Castle still exists at Surry, VA.There is now a large housing estate and a Boush Garden's theme park located on some of the original Kingsmill plantation property.
