There has been very little activity in this formum lately.I would like to discuss Elizabeth and where she may fit in with the Kinnairds in the TN area.A Byers Family Bible shows that Elias H. Byers married Elizabeth Knard on 21 Nov 1833.She is believed to have been born around 1816...making her around 17 when she married. The 1820 Census should show her under 5.
If you look at the 1820 Census:
Birket has 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-45 (assume this is Birket himself); 1 female under 10 and 1 female 16-20 (this could be a wife or older daughter).
Montgomery is shown with 1 male under 10; 1 male 10-16; 1 male 26-45 (assume this is Montgomery); 3 females under 10; 1 female 10-16; 2 females 16-26.
She could have been a child of either man.If you look at the children commonly shown as Montgomery's, Moses would be 7, Russell 6, Elizabeth at 4, James 4 and Mariah 1. Twins do run in this family. It has been difficult to prove that Russell, James and Elizabeth belong to anyone because of all the burned courthouses in Middle TN.Is it possible that Russell, Elizabeth & James belong to Birket?
1830 Census shows again Birket and Montgomery.Birket's family has not grown at all...same five only older.Montgomery's has grown by four people.
By 1840 we have a William 30-40 yrs old with 4 children (the older a female 16-20) and a wife. And Halzlet 20-30 with a wife and 2 children both under 5.And Moses married to Polly with 3 children.
By 1850, Birket is not listed at all.(Would love to know who ended up with his land, since he owned over 150 acres at one time.)
Any thoughts, anyone?I descend from Montgomery, Mariah, Alexander, Thomas, Daisy (my grandmother).
