I checked my book and could not find an Albert Kirsten. However, that does not mean he didn't emigrate from this region of Germany. Besides Tanneberg, GER, nearby cities included Beerwalde, Kriebstein, Reinsdorf and others in the domain of Rochlitz. Virtually all have Ev.Lutheran Churches with archives that go back to the 1700s.As you know the approximate date of emigration of Albert Kirsten, you might want to check: Glasier and Filbt, "Germans to America: Lists of Passingers Arriving in U.S. Ports." My notes show that no Albert Kirsten arrived between April 1868 to Nov. 1873 but I never checked the 1850s volumes (all indexed).
A professional genealogist made two trips to Beerwalde, GER (location of the Tanneberg Church archives)in 1994 to examine the archives. Some of these records might now have been microfilmed by the Family History Library and available in the US. If you have further questions, please e-mail me directly. Ed Kirsten
