I tried e-mailing you but perhaps your address has changed.
My great grandfather was Robert Hill Kirton born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, 25 Dec 1835.Three of his brothers and two cousins were drowned at sea.Two surviving cousins were Cooper and William who were both sea captains at the time.I assume the two were brothers but they could have been cousins. I'm sure it is the same Cooper, as Robert's daughter wrote about him in her memoirs. His wife's name was Emily. Apparently he was involved in shipping and ended up in Malta and was there still in 1954 when these memoirs were written. His brother William, who lived in London, did the final survey of the Suez Canal prior to it's opening.I am lacking family information regarding the names of Cooper and William's parents.Their father would have been a brother to Robert, however I don't know the names of all of his siblings.According to Robert's daughter they were descendants of Thomas Kirton and Joanna Tristram, her father being a Master Mariner who owned his own vessel.
I hope some of this information is of interest to you and am hoping that you have information of your great grandfather's parentage and other members of his family in the mid 1800's.
