(Notes from the History of the town of Amherst, NH) Zephaniah Kittredge of Amherst township, served in Capt. Benj.Taylors company of militia which marched from Amherst, Dec. 8, 1775 tp join the Continental Army on Winter Hill, Mass.He was a member of a company raised in Amherst, comanded By Capt. Timothy Clement, which was sent to Portamouth, April 15, 1776. On the 23rd of November following iot was ordered to Ticonderoga, to which place it marched in February, 1777. He served in a regiment raised July 16, 1776 to reinforce the army in Canada. He was in Capt. William Harper's company of this regiment and served three and a half months. September 25, 1776 a regiment was organized under the command of Col. Pierce Long. On the 23 of November following it was ordered to Ticonderoga to which place it marched in Feb. 1777. Zephanah Kittredge's name is on a list of those mustered in. This is just as it was written.
