Michael Klahr was the eighth child of Danieland Catharine ( Batdorf ) Klahr. The following information is found in Rex O. Matthews book " Johann Jacob Klahr of Grossbundenbach, Germany, and Berks County, Pennsylvania, and Some of His Descendants ".
Michael Klahr, born September 30, 1826, in Bethel Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Unlike his brothers, Michael never left home. He helped his father Daniel operate the farm, then purchased it after Daniel died in 1878. Michael married Sarah " Sallie " Hiester at the Trinty Tulpehocken Reformed Church in Rehrersburg on March 10, 1849, and brought her home to live. Michael and Sallie attended the Blue Mountain Church; at least four of their children were baptized there. Sallie, a daughter of Thomas and Christina ( Ebling ) Hiester, was born October 8, 1828. She died February 27, 1861, at age thirty-two, shortly after the birth of her of her sixth child. Her next youngest child, John, died a little more than two weeks later. Michael later married Veronica ( Riegel ) Moyer, widow of Daniel Moyer, who had died suddenly on May 9, 1871. There were no children by the second marriage. Michael died of consumption on January 20, 1898, and is burried at the Blue Mountain Church,. Veronica , who was born March 17, 1828, and died December 10, 1908, is burried next to him.
