Hi - I can't speak to the particulars about birth dates in your post - but my notes show that Philip KLINGENSMITH's will is on file at Westmoreland Co., Pa: Wills, Vol. 7, p. 531. the will was written 8 Mar 1886.
He identifies himself as being of Salem Twp.
He bequeaths to his wife Martha [I show her as maiden name FRYE - no source], all of the household furniture, books, and the mansion or dwelling house in which they now live.
Martha's living is to be provided by his sons Philip and Samuel.
Samuel is to live in the house with his mother and see that she is well cared for. Samuel will receive 60 acres from the southeast end of the farm, without improvements.
To his son Philip goes the balance of the farm, 84 acres with improvements, excepting the house while the widow lives. On her death the house will go to Philip. Philip is also to pay the judgment due to the estate of Henry METZ, deceased, which is $1,000.
To his son Andrew he gives 10 acres.
To the three minor children of his daughter Lavinia who is married to Daniel KLINGENSMITH: Philip $5.00, Daniel $5.00, and Margaret $5.00. These sums are to be paid by the testator's sons, Philip and Daniel, one year after his death. At this time, they are also to pay $50.00 to his daughter Mary, married to Samuel WALTHOUR; $50.00 to his daughter Margaret married to Daniel POTTS, and $15.00 to his daughter Elisabeth, married to George HEDDINGER.
Two years after the father's death, Philip and Samuel are to pay to their brother Ruben $200.00.
If there are any proceeds left from the estate after these bequests are made, they are to given to the son Samuel.
The will was proven 5 Aug. 1887.
In the baptismal records for Levi, Reuben, and Lavinia - the mother's name is given as Magdalena. As noted above, she is called Martha in her husband's will. Mattie Klingensmith, mother of Levi J. Klingensmith, filed for a Civil War pension June 30, 1880. Application #273.614. So I have her named Magdalena Martha.
1850 Fed Census, Salem Twp, Westmoreland Co., pg 395, #275,275 - No child named Elizabeth appears.
1860 Census, Salem Xroads, Salem Twp. p. 35/981. Philip, 50, farmer; Margaret, 48; Levi J., 25, farmer; Reuben, 23, farmer; Lavinia, 21; Mary, 19; Margaret, 17; Andrew, 14; Philip, 12; Elisabeth, 8; and Samuel, 4.
I hope this helps.
