Looking for the parents of William R. Klinger, born 1 Jan 1843 in either Dauphin County or Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania, died 9 June 1912, and buried in St. Paul's Cemetery ("Artz Church") Hubley Township, Schuylkill Co., PA.Wm R. had 2 wives:m1. Justina Zerbe (b. 19 Mar 1847 – d. 6 Aug 1874) and m2. on 17 June 1877 to Elizabeth Updegrave (or Uptegrave, Updegraf or Uptegraf) (b. 19 Mar 1845 – d. 5 Dec 1913).Both wives are also buried in St. Paul's Cemetery (Artz Church), Hubley Township.Wm R. had 11 children by his 2 wives: 4 with Justina-Mary Ellen, Laura Cecilia, Cora I., and Justina Annie. 7 with Elizabeth-Katie Minerva, Jerome W., Harriet Matilda, Sara Renova, Elizabeth Elmira, Willie Scott, and Ida Louisa.
Wm R. Klinger was in the Civil War as a Private, Co. F, 7h Regiment, PA Cavalry.
William R. Klinger had one known brother, George R. Klinger (b. 1846 d. 1922) married to Annetta Artz.George R. Klinger appears in the 1870 census of Hegins Twp, Schuylkill Co, PA. as "Klinger Geo. R. age 23 occupation = miller, Annetta age 22, Priscilla age 3, Victoria age 1".
It's been reported that William R. Klinger was the son of Jacob Klinger & his first wife Sarah Reed. There is a William age 7 in the 1850 Census of Minersville, PA in the household of Jacob (age 30) and Catharine (age 31) Klinger along with Pricilla 5, George 4, Catharine 3/12.This may be the same William Klinger, since the ages match for both William and George.Jacob Klinger had 2 wives, Sarah Reed and Catherine Mayer, so the Catherine can be explained. So it's possible that William R. is the son of Jacob Klinger, but I'm looking for any other links.
Any clues as to the parents of William R. Klinger are welcome.William R. is my 2nd Great-grandfather.I'm also interested in hearing from anyone else interested in this family. Regards, Bob Klawitter
