Donald in my first cousin once removed.He is generally right about the origin of the Klontz from whom he and I are decended.I have most of the history back to Luxembourg from where my grandfather Mathias (Math) emigrated in about 1880.He and most of his siblings came to the US.
The earliest information I have is this:
1.Mathias Klontz married Katherine Thommen 2.They had a son named Valentine Jean Klontz born 10-25-1828.Valentine married Barbara Brandt born 5-15-1820. 3.Valentine and Barbara hadthe following children: a.Katherine Klontz (b.1854) m. Jacob Servais (b.1847). b.Elizabeth Klontz m. Jean Lentz (she died in Luxembourg, he at Currie, Minn about 1928) c.John Klontz m. Eva Flick d.Mathias Klontz (b.1860) m. Mary Isley (b.12-15-1864 in Canada)(My Grandparents) e.Barbara Klontz (my mother was not certain that there was a Barbara. f.My mother also thought there was a Anna Margaretha Klontz but I am not certain of this.
4.Klontz and Servais settled in Chicago.They had the following children: a.Emil Servais (b.1898) m. Madeline Zeyen -(son Eugene Servais m. Grace Spencer). b.Suzanene Servais m. __ Manestret, they had 7 children. c.Barbara Servais m. __ Reiter, they had 5 children.
5.Klontz and Lentz had the following children who settled in Minnesota: a. Louis m. Genevieve Rogers (6 children) b. Alphonse m. Parmelie Duguay (6 children) c. Jean m. Josephine (no children) d. Marie m. Hubert LaPlanch (no children)
6.Klontz and Flick had 8children a. Mathias (1889-1970) m. Mary Ann ___ (3 children) b. Casper (1890-1950) m. Margarite ___ (2 children) c. George (1891-1973) m. Mary Ellen Lavin (1887-1972) (6 children). d. Mary (1893-1972) m. Frank Bear (no children) e. Willian (1894-1970) m. Catherine (4 children), m. Emma. f. Edward (1896-1987) m. Susan ____ (3 children) g. Christian (1897-1973) M. Sigrid Graff (1902-1986) (2 children) h. Nicholas (1887-1925) m. Marie Zwaska (7 children).

My grandfather Mathias lived in Chicago, St. Paul, Mn., and became a farmer at Hartly, Io. in the late 1800's.From there he moved to a farm near St. Killian, Minn. where he farmed until about 1917.He than moved to a farm in the Red River Valley of N.D. near Hillsbourgh.His brother John moved to Viking, Alberta, Canada, probably about the time he moved to N.D.John had several sons and one daugher Mary.Some of his sons moved to the Everett, Washington area as did Mary.There are many decendents.
