My mother was a Knaggs, and I have traced my Knaggs ancestry back to a Peter Knags (spelled with one g), born somewhere in England about 1680. He was married to Ann Hobson in Hutton Cranswick, Yorkshire in 1706. Their children were:
- Peter KNAGGS bap 2 Apr 1707 H.C. (Note: thebaptismal records show 2 g's) - John KNAGGS bap 3 Apr 1709 H.C. - Matthew KNAGGS bap 5 Nov 1711 H.C. - William KNAGGS bap 29 Mar 1713 H.C. - Ann KNAGGS bap 30 Aug 1715 H.C. - Robert KNAGGS bap 16 Feb 1717 H.C. - Richard KNAGGS bap 9 Jan 1720 H.C. - Elizabeth KNAGGS bap 14 Nov 1723 H.C. - JOHN KNAGGS bap 29 Oct 1726 H.C.(presumably the younger John died)
The last-mentioned John is my ancestor. He married Elizabeth Smith on 13 Feb 1752, in Hutton Cranswick. Their children were:
- Matthew KNAGGS bap 31 Oct 1753 H.C. - Robert KNAGGS bap 24 Nov 1756 H.C.
This Robert is my 3rd great grandfather.
Do you have any documented ancestors for Peter Knags? Would much appreciate your guidance.
