My Knapper line also came from Staffordshire, uk. My Gt. Gt. Grandfather was James Knapper born 1819 in Staffs, he died Feb 15, 1900, in Kidsgrove, England, interred in Kidsgrove Church Cemetary February 20, 1900. He had a son William b 1857, who married a Sarah Ashton on August 22, 1875, at the time of the marriage they resided at Kidsgrove Rookery.They married at the Westlyan Chapel, Tunstall, the Minister was H. T. Brumwell. Marriage number 136 page 68 book 5, in the presence of James and Rachel Grundy, the Registrar was Thomas Walplate. Registered on 6th September, 1875, in the district of Woolstanton.James and William were colliers. William and Sarah had 10 children of whom I have information.Some died in childhood and 2 emigrated I believe to New Zealand. We also have a little information on a Charles Knapper, Staffs, married Emily Bedson September 10, 1879 Staffs, possily, but not sure a Brother to William.
William and Sarah were interred at St. Nicholas Curch Cemetary, St. Helens, Lancashire after their deaths.William died 5 February 1927 aged 68 and Sarah died 18th March 1926 aged 69.
