As there appears to have been no activity on this forum for quite a while and as the festive season will soon be upon us I thought that I would like to wish Knappers everywhere a very happy Christmas and good hunting in the new year.
From my own point of view 2007 has been a little more productive than other years. I am now convinced that my line goes back to a Charles Knapper from Kidsgrove in Staffordshire a collier born 1796. In the 1841 census Charles was living in Kidsgrove with wife Mary 45, son Charles aged 20 ,William aged 15( approx), James aged 3 and Joseph 1 month. Daughters Sarah age 15(approx), Elizabeth 9, Mary 6 The task for the new year is to trace the family even further back which will mean a trip out to a records office with Kidsgrove BMDs. They don't appear to feature in the International Geneological Index.
