Gd'day to all, Just got back from a trip down south here in Australia and what a great trip it was for genie. Thanks Dan for your reply, as yet I have not found my Nibbs with the K first but will let you know if I do.You have a very interesting lot in your family and look forward to reading more.
Thought I would put down more on what I have on my Nibbs family for future reference to anyone interested.
We start with John Thomas Nibbs, married Elizabeth ? and they had 4 sons.JOHN THOMAS JNR, Francis, Daniel Edward and Isaac Benjamin. To the best of my knowledge they were all born in Lambeth.
John Thomas Nibbs Jnr married Sophia Smith in Kennington, they had 5 sons.John Thomas Jnr (yes, another J.T.), William Oliver, Henry Stephen, Francis Isaac and EDWIN RICHARD.
EDWIN RICHARD married Eliza ? in Strand 1875, they had one child that I know of so far, FRANK.
FRANK married Alice Ninfa ? in St Saviour 1898.They had 2 children ELEANOR and Frank jnr.Eleanor is my grandmother.
What was so interesting about my trip down south was that I saw a painting done by Franicis Isaac Nibbs, it's extremely good and right up there with the best. Not unlike Richard Henry Nibbs work in my humble opinion and the picture is of people working on the coast line somewhere in the UK.Also, I saw a painting done by Frank Nibbs snr which my father saw him paint as a lad. It is a painted (naturally) copy from a painting he had seen of Claremont House at Old Kent Road. Under that it says Church now built on site.Again I say it is great work in my humble opinion, talent that I certainly didn't acquire from the gene pool.
Another exciting bit of info from a cousin from overseas, he sent me an original flyer from 1899 of a Grand Annual Concert at Peckham Public Hall Rye Lane, Peckham S.E., done by my great grandfather Frank Nibbs and another fellow Carey. It lists every one in the concert and where you can buy tickets.Another great treasure to add to the family history album.
I do have more on the Nibbs family but these are my direct line family.Drop me a line if you wish to know more, would love to hear from anyone interested.
