Assuming there's only one Lillian Knobel LOTSHAW floating around, we're related in a rather complicated way (at least by marriage).Hopefully, I'll get this straight!I'm going off of a cousin's research, so please just use this information as a hint in the right direction.
My great-grandfather was Frank Wesley LOTSHAW, b. 6/25/1875 in Iuka, Marion County, Illinois to William W. Lotshaw & Eliza Jane PENDERGAST, d. 1/5/1964 in St. Paul, MN.
His first wife was Olga Antonette HAJEK, b. 9/24/1879 in Austria (another cousin says Vienna) to Franz (Frank) HAJEK & Antonette/Antonia UNKNOWN, d. 11/1/1913 in St. Paul, MN.
They had three children, including my grandmother. 1.Charles Wesley LOTSHAW, b. 12/19/1907 St. Paul, MN; d. 10/19/1965 Mexico. 2.Neenah Jean LOTSHAW, b. 7/9/1909 St. Paul, MN; d. 6/16/1991 in the Los Angeles, CA area. 3.Claude Irwin LOTSHAW, b. 8/24/1911 St. Paul, MN; d. 3/13/1968 East St. Louis, IL.
According to my cousin, Frank LOTSHAW had many occupations in his lifetime. Some of them being:a shopkeeper, saloonkeeper, professor at a business school, hotel owner, & independent contractor.
He met his first wife Olga HAJEK in Plattsmouth, NE, where he was teaching at a business school. She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, organ & violin.
After his first wife died, Frank LOTSHAW married Lillian Knobel, b. 3/11/1892, d. 12/16/1977 St. Paul, MN.
The couple had one (1) son, John, who was a stillborn. My cousin's records indicate that John LOTSHAW was born 1927-1928.Looking at her endnotes, I believe she recorded John as being buried on hospital grounds at Farmington State Hospital.
FYI, I searched for "Farmington State Hospital" and I think the hospital in question is located in Farmington, MO.Of course, there might be another hospital of the same name.
Once again, assuming we have the same Lillian KNOBEL, I'm not quite sure what relation we are.The stillborn child was my grandmother's half-brother, with Lillian being her step-mother.I suppose that makes your grandfather Roy my grandmother's step-uncle and your father her step-cousin.I'm not all that good w/figuring out cousins, but I *think* you and my mother are step-second cousins.Rather complicated.
I'm sorry I don't have any information on your great grandparents.Have you found anything more since your post?I'd be interested in seeing what you have so far.My mom somewhat remembers Lillian and I'm rather curious about the lady (and her family)....I can't imagine how she dealt w/my grandmother! From most accounts, Grandma was just a tad on the wild side!;-)
