Okay!I just found him with his parents in Portland, Multnomah for the 1920 census!
His father was Sophus Knudson born in Denmark (age 41) and Julia (age 39)
It looks like the immigrated in 1883 and naturalized in 1896.
They own with a mortgage, at 68 W Highland Street, visit/dwelling: 135/137, married, Julia was born in Wisconsin as was Laurice S, Both of the father Sophus' parents were born in Denmark and both of Julia's parents were born in Norway.Sophus was a "streetcar motorman."
The children were
Laurice S, 16, WI, Denmark, WI
Frank,13, b. Washington
Stanley,9, b. Oregon
Eilane, 2+,b. Wisconsin
So they moved around! You can figure out where they were by the ages of the children.
Name:Sophus Knudson
Age:41 years
Estimated birth year:1878
Birthplace:Denmark
Race:White
Home in 1920:Portland, Multnomah, Oregon

Oregon Death index has Lawrence S's Father's death:
Oregon Death Index, 1903-98
Name:Knudson, Sophus L.
County:Portland
Death Date:09 May 1925
Certificate:1284
and this is the mother Julia's death information:
Name:Knudson, Julia M
County:Portland
Death Date:17 Jul 1947
Certificate:2529

I have found Julia and the siblings in the 1930 census also with this information:
Julia M Knudson 49 1880 WisconsinHeadWhitePortland, Multnomah, OR
Frank A Knudson 23 1906SonPortland, Multnomah, OR
Stanley B Knudson 19 1910SonPortland, Multnomah, OR
Eileen D Knudson 12 1917DaughterPortland, Multnomah, OR
Year: 1930; Census Place: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: T626_1953; Page: 2B; Enumeration District: 455; Image: 0827.
This helps verify Julia's middle initial that I found in the Oregon death index and the 1930 census.
In the 1930 Julia and the children had moved and were now at what is 1400 D???? avenue and are renting.
Julia M, 49, widowed, WI/Norway/Norway/no occupation
Frank A,23, single, WA/MN/Wisconsin (note father's birthplace), housebuilding carpenter, not a veteran
Stanley B,19, single, OR/MN/WI,Tyeing and inspecting cooperage
Eileen D,12, single,WI/MN/WI
Note that the father's birthplace matches the Laurice S who is married to Altha's father's birthplace (in the 1930 census) but in the 1920 it says Sophus was born in Denmark.

The 1910 has Sophus:
Name:Sophus L Knudson
Age in 1910:30
Estimated Birth Year:1879
Home in 1910:10-WD PORTLAND, MULTNOMAH, Oregon
Race:White
Gender:Male
Series:T624
Roll:1287
Part:1
Page:253A
Year:1910
KNUDSON SOPHUS L30 M W DENM OR MULTNOMAH 10-WD PORTLAND 1910
This census has Sophus (30, Denm/Denm,Denm, immigrated 1885, streetcar conductor) and Julia M (29/WI/Nor/Nor)and Laurice (6,WI/Denm/WI), Frank (4 WA/Denm/WI)and it says that Julia has had 3 children but only two were living. She and Sophus had been married for 7 years.
So this would mean that Sophus immigrated when he was 3 to 5 years old.

His death certificate information might say who his parents were.
