I found a couple of interesting sites in the last few days. I am a novice, so weeding out all of the useless info is time consuming. Anywy, there is a Keopke genealogy page that has been set up by Dan Keopke. There is a surname database, photo albums, and family group sheets. There is also a picture of his family's crest. He has done an excellent job putting this site together! http://member.tripod.com/BMan7008/http://member.tripod.com/BMan7008/ You can just surf and find it easily as well.
There is also a community called German Genealogy. There are postings and replies, so on and so forth. Not as conjested as some communities I have visited. Their side bar has interesting information that helps to guide your search. Iformation of church records, translations, languages and german occupations. There is also a "site manager" who chimes in on occasion. His name is Richard and will help anyone at this site. I have sent him numerous questions via email, and he has always responded with solid information. Again the community is calle German Genealogy.
I also suggest searching for different spellings of the surname. As I mentioned in my posting,my great grandfather changed Keopke to Kipke. I also have heard that other family members changed the name to Kopp, Kopecki, and Kepper. Maybe this will be helpful.
Thanks again!! I look forward to hearing from you!
