Hi Vicky! The Cornelius Kollock you mentioned was a sea Captain who was born around 1700 in DE.He married Jerusha Billings in 1723(she was from Sharon). Her father was Ebenezer Billings and he owned the Billings Tavern in Sharon, Mass. The Kollocks you will find in the area are all descendants of his.Jerusha and Cornelius had 3 sons named Cornelius (b.1724), Royall (b. 1726), & Lemuel (b. 1728). The names Lemuel, Cornelius, & Royall are staples in this Mass group.Lemuel shows up in a few searches on political/government papers with John Guild, Benjamin Guild, & a Daniel Guild.
Ebenezer Billings owned some several hundred acres in Sharon, Mass., including Moose Hill, and a tract on Billings or Wollomolopoag Pond, adjoining land bought by Conrnelius Kollock, his son-in-law.The Kollock homestead was owned successively by Cornelius Kollock, his son Royall, and his grandaughter Esther who married Amasa Hewins, and their son Lemuel D. Hewins, their son, all during a period of about 125 years. I am not too farmiliar with this area of Mass. I know Sharon and Wrentham are in the same county. Is one a borough of the other or anything like that? or was part of one town created put of part of another? I am wondering if there is any connection to this Guild/Kollock house and this massive Kollock/Billings property???
Well if you do find out anything please let me know and I will certainly do the same. Best Regards, Melissa
