The only Korte in our tree that I have any definite information on is Herman Korte, my third-great-grandfather and his descendants. I have contacted my Ohio cousin (I'm in California) to see if she has information about any possible siblings to our Herman. Our Herman was born in Hanover, same as your Margaret. They might be siblings or cousins. Most of the Korte migrated to Hungary and became Donau-Schwaben. Those who remained behind are most likely related.
Here are the Korte that I do have in our family. Perhaps you will find a connection. If so, let me know. If my cousin and I find any more information on our branch, I will gladly share.
Herman Korte, born c.1811, Hanover
Maria Agnes Korte (nee Borgin), born 1819, Oldenburg, Germany; died 1893, Cincinnati, OH.
Their children:
i. Frank Korte, born Abt. 1838 in Ohio; died Unknown.
ii. John Korte, born Abt. 1840; died Unknown.
iii. Cathe Korte, born Abt. 1842 in Ohio; died Unknown.
iv. Mary Elizabeth Korte, born 23 May 1850 in Cincinnati, OH; died 22 Feb 1918 in Cincinnati, OH; married Solomon Joseph Boyle 11 May 1869 in St Edwards Church, Cincinnati, OH. [my great-great grandmother]
v. Caroline Korte, born Abt. 1857 in Ohio; died Unknown.
vi. Anna Korte, born Abt. Apr 1860 in Ohio; died Unknown.
Maria
