Great to hear from you. Thanks for sharing your notes. Do you know whom that information came from? This is the first I've heard of a Seymore Koyl. But, I've been fortunate to turn up some important records since my last post here and I believe we've finally proven beyond any doubt that Levi Koyl's father was Peter Koyl Sr.
I obtained copies of Levi's marriage return and death record and both provide the name of Peter Koyl as his father. However, the name of Levi's mother is still sketchy...given as July (perhaps Julie or Julia mispelled?) on the marriage return and "unknown" on the death record. So far, that is the only evidence I have for Levi's mother's identity but I still haven't turned over every leaf!
My research suggests that Levi was of Scotch-Irish descent but his family had been in North America for several generations. However, Levi's wife Susan was born in Ireland and it appears that she lived in Dublin with her family before travelling to America (New York, according to her obituary) and then to Canada where the family settled in South Dorchester Twp., Elgin County, Ontario. Susan's death record reveals her mother's maiden name: Emma (Elizabeth Emily) RYAN. Her father's name was Joseph JACKSON.
So, while my research doesn't match up with your notes, there are some interesting similarities to Susan's parents.
Here's my connection: 1. Levi - Susan Jackson 2. Joseph - Emaline Vanhorn 3. Ivan - Muriel Bryant 4. Jack - Joe Ann Brown (Jack is living) 5. Michael - Robyn (all living) 6. Adam - Jennifer (all living)
