Like everyone here trying to trace family tree. Before my grandfather died several years ago I sat down with him and he provided me with the following Koslowsly family tree information:
My grandfather was Johanas J. Koslowsky and was born in Latvia (Liebeu(?)) in July of 1902 or 03. He worked on a cruise ship as a youth and one time when in NYC he jumped ship and started his life here in the USA. Later he changed his name to John J. Cale. He lived in New Jersey for many years, got married, had two children (John and Jane) before moving out to CA where he died in 1994.
His father was Gustov Koslowsky, a master baker, who lived in Latvia from 1873 to 1955 (?). He was marred to a Anna Eylander, also from Eastern Europe, (Gramps said her family was of some title like duke or something) who lived from 1872 to late 1950s (?). They had nine children (Not in order):
August (Male) Paul (Male) Olga (Female) Herman (Male) Carl (Male) Wiley (Male) Gusthuv (Male) Amil (Male) Johanas (Male)
One or two of the boys and or their familys also came to the USA sometime in the late 1930s and I believe settled in the midwest someplace.
That is all the information I have on that part of my family. Hope someone can find a link and get with me.
