The Krekel family emigrated from Langenfeld-Berghausen to the US in 1832 on the ship Isabella, master Juergen Meyer, from Bremen to New York.
The parents, Franz KREKEL and Catharina SCHUMACHER were married in Monheim, a nearby town of Langenfeld, St. Gereon church, in 1808. In the same year (13. Jun.) the son Gottfried was born.
It seems, that the Krekel family lived at first in Garath (which is today part of the city Duesseldorf) and later in Berghausen. Langenfeld is situated halfway between Cologne and Duesseldorf in North/Rhine - Westphalia, Germany.
I suppose, that Gottfried Krekel was married to Elisabeth SCHEULEN, born abt. 1815/1816 in Lank (today Meerbusch-Lank), daughter of Johann Adolph SCHEULEN and Catharina Elisabeth SCHMITZ. The SCHEULEN family left Germany with the Solingen emigration society in 1834. The group travelled with the ship Jefferson (Rotterdam/Netherlands 17. Apr. 1834 – Baltimore 05. Jun. 1834).
The leader of the Solingen emigration society was Friedrich (Frederick) STEINES, born in Kettwig, who was a teacher in Solingen.
