Alfred R. Kroeger was my father.He was born on November 20, 1989 in a German settlement in northwest Davenport, Iowa, and his parents immigrated from the Schleswig-Holstien state of northern Germany.His father's name was Frederick and his mother's name was Berte Steuver Kroeger.Dad passed away in July, 1966.
He had been married three different times.The first was to Marie, and they had two children: Harold born March 19, 1919, and Aletha.
His second wife was named Ann, and they had four children:Alfred Clarence, Carl and Charles (twins), and Gloria.
His third marriage was to my mother, Gladys Marguerite Anderson Bogle.They had five chilren, Kathryn Joyce born February 28, 1937, Gladys Imogene born March 20,1939, Janet Arlene (myself) born March 11, 1941, Alfred Rimer Jr. born February 7, 1943 and Alice Marie born February 12, 1944.
My mother, Gladys Marguerite Anderson Bogle Kroeger, was born June 6, 1907 in Blue Island, Illinois, which is now part of the city of Chicago.She had three siblings, Florence, Frank and Wilma.Mother passed away in September, 1965.
Mother's father, Carl Anderson, was from Stockholm, Sweden, and her mother, Elizabeth Piggott Anderson Enders, was of British ancestry.
