Bold Attempt at Kidnapping There was a bold and unexplained attempt at kidnaping in Aurora last week Thursday forenoon, the Express says:
Mrs. Albert Kunkle of Batavia, accompanied by her two children, took the car which arrives in Aurora at 10:30 o'clock. the car was well filled with passengers but there was room for her little daughter Myrtle near her and she carried the baby in her arms.
When the car stopped at the corner of River street and Downer place a short, dark woman, shabbily dressed, seized the little girl, jumped off and disappeared in the crowd. The mother did not notice the child's absence for a few minutes; then, frantic, she jumped off the car and made her way back to the corner. There she saw the child running to meet her. The little one had kicked and scratched and called to her mother and finally succeeded in breaking away, the woman probably fearing she would attract attention.
Myrtle is only three years old. She is a very pretty child with bright eyes and flaxen hair. --------------- Posted as a courtesy. I have no further information.
