Hi Linda. Antione Descomps dit Labadie (1730) died very shortly thereafter. Antione Louis Decomps dit Labadie (aka Badichon) was born in 1732, had 3 wives ande 23 children - 5 from Angelique Campau dit Niagara, 8 from Marie Suavagesse (identified as Sauteuse and believed but not yet proven to be the daughter of indian chief Pontiac) by a country marriage, and 10 from Charlotte Barthe who survived him. The first use of the name Badichon was on the death record of Marie where Antoine was identified as Badichon by the priest. He had slaves, in particular a househould slave assisting Marie named Mannon who has often been confused as his country wife. That slave also had chldren which gave rise to the untrue believe that Antoine had anywhere up to 33 children. Marie died in March 1784. Thereafter Mannon was left to raise the Badichon children by Antoine and Charlotte. This gave rise to the mistaken belief that Mannon was the mother where she really was acing as the foster mother as Charlotte had nothing to do with them.
