A Juan Domingo (Dominique) L'Abadie, French born in 1738, came to Santa Fe in 1765 during the Spanish Colonial Period. He died in NM in 1815. He married Maria Macaela Martin Serrano Padilla in 1766 in Santa Fe and they had several children born in Santa Fe and San Juan (Rio Arriba County, NM). His off-spring in NM are of Spanish and Indian decent from northern NM. Juan Domingos decendents go by the Labadie name and various other, mostly Spanish, surnames.
