Hi--I'm also a descendant of Pierre Labbe and Marguerite Meunier ..I tried sending a message earlier today but it doesn't seem to have worked.Without boring you with all the details, my grandmother's name was Margaret Schmid Labbee (notice the extra e), her father was Joseph Labbee, who emigrated from Yamaska to Providence, RI and owned a shoe store there. My great grandfather, Joseph Alfred Labbee was born in Yamaska in 1862. His father was Paul Labbe, whose father was Michel Labbe whose father was Jean-Baptiste,whose father was Jean, whose father was the Pierre we're talking about. (I mean no disrespect to the women in the chain--it's just simpler to provide you with the male Labbes.
I would be VERY interested to see a picture of the plaque and also to know specifics about the Labbe family homestead. Where is it located? Who lives there now? Do you have any pictures of it?Are there any other resources I should know about? There is quite a lot of information about the Labbes on this website and others, but I'd love to hear more anecdotes, see pictures etc.
Anything you (and others) are willing to share would be more than appreciated. If I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know.
