Mary, It was so nice to hear back from you. Many years ago I did research at the Lib of Cong; now I waste my time tracking mistakes posted on the internet. This is not to say that I don't also make horrible mistakes in my own research.
To start:Francis and John Ladson were brothers, b. Brigstock, Northamptonshire, Eng, parents unknown and I haven't found references. They were in Barbados in 1667, can't find references.John married Mary Stanyarne, d/o Thomas Stanyarne and Mary Waight.Stanyarne had ch: Thomas,John,Ann, Elizabeth, James.Son Thomas immigrated from Barbados to SC May 1675.Francis and John Ladson (w/ wife Mary Stanyarne) also immigrated to SC.
Francis arrived SC before 2 Nov 1678 on which date he received a warrant from the Lords Proprietors of Carolina for 100 acres of land on the Ashley River. He received a second warrant for another 100 acres in Berkeley County on 6 May 1696.An addition 200 acres came through warrant on 21 Nov 1707.I have a few references if you would like.Part of his holdings are referred to as the Perry Hill Plantation; and part were later to become the Magnolia Plantation.Francis married Mary (?) no references.Their ch: Francis Sr, Mary, Sarah, Robert, Jacob,Elizabeth.Frances Sr. m. Mary (?), had c. Zachariah, Isaac, Francis, Joseph, Abraham, Rachael.s. Francis Jr. m. Elizabeth Manning, had c: James, b. 1747/ Elizabeth, b. Sept 1745.Francis Jr. had s. James married Mary Ann Dean, d/o Daniel K. Dean and Ann DuPont(of the Midway Congregational Church) and had d. Esther Dean Ladson.
John arrived from Barbados on the barque Plantation; having been granted a ticket on 13 August 1679.Between 1679 and 1695 he received land grants totaling 1,300 acres between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers in Berkeley Co.He was a member of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Assemblies for Berkely and Craven counties; and was a trustee in the Charleston Quaker community.John d. 1 Oct. 1698, and Mary d. 8 Dec, 1707, both buried St Helena Is, SC, no references.
I've including the land/burial info in case you want to do SC Historical Society research.
I am decended from Francis's line to Ladson, tho I have some info on John Ladson and Mary (Stanyarne)line as well.I'm still sorting out who were the Quakers, who were the French Huguenots (maybe the Jordan connection in FL) and who were the Congregationalists who became members of the Midway Congregational Church in Liberty Co, GA.Here is where our Dean connection comes in.
Somewhere in my notes I have the Ladson/Smith connection.Without putting my finger on it, I think it might be the John Ladson line rather than the Frances Ladson line.I did e-mail my Jordan-friend-of-Minton connection, but he is gone during the holidays.Perhaps I should quickly explain:James Ladson (s. of Francis Jr/s. of Francis Sr/s. of Francis) m. Mary Ann Dean, d Esther Dean Ladson m. Jonathan Fabian d. Rosina Ladson Fabian m. Major John Minton.
I'd be happy to go off Forum to discuss leads, if you'd like.I hate to "publish" connections that I haven't yet confirmed, but would rather complete the work before it goes on-line here to let everyone share.
