Obit for Joyce Ladwig Gardepy
For anyone who knew her or would like to share info.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Joyce L. Gardepy, 69, of Bountiful, passed away peacefully April 10, 2003, at the McKay-Dee Medical Center and Hospital in Ogden, Utah, after a valiant battle with cancer. To the end, she did it her way.
Mom was born on May 19, 1933, in Iron Mountain, to the late Edward Ladwig and Anna Cowling.
She married Richard S. Gardepy, in 1948, but were later divorced. She continued to love him until the day she passed.
Mom was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Iron Mountain where she had taught Sunday School.
She attended Iron Mountain High School and was a 1969 graduate of Northern Michigan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Mom worked several years for the Breitung Intermediate School District as a speech pathologist. She later worked in Green Bay, Wis., and Clintonville, Wis., Mocksville, N.C., and finally moved to Bountiful to be close to family.
Her hobbies included playing cards, reading and letter writing. Most of all she truly enjoyed the friendships she maintained over the many years of her life. She loved making people laugh with her stories and you never knew what, or how, she was going to say something. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Robin) Gardepy; two granddaughters, Danyelle (Jamie) Beets and Erica Gardepy; two beloved and adored great-granddaughters, Zoey Beets and Kacie Gardepy, all of Clearfield, Utah; one sister, Shirley (Clem) Jauquet of Iron Mountain, and sisters-in-law, Fran Patrick of Iron Mountain, Lillian Ladwig of Marinette, Wis., Karen Lohf of Marquette, Thedda Ladwig of London, Ky., and JoAnn (Vern) Simondsen of Sagola. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Donald (Pidge) and Robert (Butch) Ladwig, and one sister, Maxine (Ladwig) Halverson.
Those who knew her are grateful the Lord was at her side to lead her to the Pearly Gates as she was never good at directions and would have gotten lost by herself.
We want to thank everyone for their love and support throughout her illness and passing.
A memorial service will be announced at a future date.
