Who is this Sarah Laffoon? In October 1758, she is paid 100 pounds in tobacco for caring for Sarah Taylor in her sickness and burying her. In October, 1770 Sarah Laffoon is paid 5 pounds for "keeping" Mary McCormick. Both incidents are in the vestry book of Blisland Parish which was located in New Kent and James City Counties of VA. One would assume these 2 incidents are peformed by the same woman. Is she a never married Laffoon daughter who passes time by caring for people. Were these 2 women Sarah helped family or strangers or neighbors? Is she a Laffoon wife? In September 1779 someone (name is missing) is paid for "keeping Sarah Laffoon to this day" 40 pounds. This is found in the vestry book for St. Peter's Parish which is in the same area just farther west. Has Sarah gotten old enough now that she needs someone to take care of her? She is living until at least that entry of Sept 29th. Both Sarah Taylor and Mary McCormick are listed during other years in the vestry books with others caring for them .
