I'm new to this forum too, about a month. And I'm new to genealogy as well, about three years now.
John Henry Laforest and Ida E. Archambeault Laforest are my maternal grandparents.Your grandfather Napoleon is my mother's brother. Her name is Edna Florence Laforest Josaitis and my siblings always knew your grandfather as our Uncle Paul.
I have been given a lot of info on your Laforest grandparents, g grandparents, and gg grandparents and some photos, too.I've also been fortunate to find a lady in Chassel (Houghton Co.), MI who was very helpful in sharing her genealogy work on your g grandmother Ida Archambeault Laforest and her ancestors. There is a lot of good stuff on these families going back to some of the original colonists of Quebec city in the 1640's.
To maintain the sharing aspect of the forum, I guess we should try to keep as much of this in the forum so others can benefit too.I would like to share what I have with you, including digital photographs. Sad to say,I know nothing of my cousins,(your parents, aunts and uncles) Robert, Edyth, Raymond, and Kenneth.
Our cousin Nancy Laforest Dement mentioned in her post to the forum Feb. 3, 2002: "I have a more detailed family tree with middle names, dates of birth and death, etc. if anyone is interested".If you make contact with her will you give me her email address or pass mine on to her?
I've also been trying to contact Tom Archambeau too, but his post is a couple years old and the trail may have gone cool.We are all in the same "branch" of this great family.
