I'm Irish and have been researching the Lahy surname for the last year (our family changed spelling to Leahy around 1900). There's a family story that we're descendants of French Huguenots who's surname was De Lahaye, from Lahayville in Normandy but who anglicised/Irishised the name when they came to England/Ireland in the early 1600s. Our lot all settled around in Co Cavan, at Lough Sheelin in a townland called Ballymachugh. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who thinks they may be of this line, or has info on a huguenot link to the Lahy/Lahey line. I have extensive info on land deeds etc I can share.
