Looking for cancer cases in descendants of James T. Laizure
Hello,
My family line is from James T. to his son Francis Marion Laizure. There are many cancer cases in my branch, and I will see a genetic counselor at UCI Medical Center duing the summer of 2008. We are trying to see if our family fits a specific syndrome or if we have a mutation in the p53 tumor supressing gene.
Does a descendant of James T. Laizure show a case of colon cancer in their family before the age of 45? This is considered an early case of colon cancer.
It would be wise for our families to get colonoscopies, pap smears, and breast exams more frequently than most people have them done.
In my line: Francis Marion died of sarcoma of the breast.(My great-grandfather)
His son, James Christopher Laizure, died of colon cancer in 1952. He was 59.(My grandfather)
His 1st son ,James Robert Laizure, survived colon cancer in the 1980s.(My father)
His 2nd and third sons died of non-Hodgins lymphoma at 58 and 39, respectively.
His daughter died of breast cancer in her mid-sixties.
His 4th son died with pancreatic cancer at 52.
The 5th and 6th sons are still living without cancer in 2008.
I am a daughter or James Robert Laizure, who survived colon cancer. I have carcinoid tumors.
