Jeremy Tuggle recently posted a message asking if anyone had any recent information on Conrad Lamberson. Here is what I know:
Conrad Adams who was in what is now Columbia Co.PA, had as his hired man, Conrad Lamberson.Conrad Adams was married to Sarah Boone. We believe that Lamberson worked for him for about 20 years.Conrad Adams died in 1801, leaving behind the widow, Sarah and several children.Conrad Lamberson married Sarah Boone Adams within a short time. According to the will of Conrad Adams, his widow could not sell the land until the youngest of the Adams children was of age.Because the youngest child was only 3 when his father died, it was quite a number of years before Conrad Lamberson and his wife, Sarah could sell the property. But, after this period of time, the Lambersons, some of the Adams children, and the Lamberson children all moved to Armstrong County, PA.
We have yet to find where the Conrads--Adams and Lamberson were prior to coming to Columbia County, PA.We do not know whether Lamberson worked for him only in Columbia County (then Northumberland Co.), or whether they came together from another area. Many of the residents of that part of PA. had come from New Jersey and I know some of the Lambersons were in New Jersey, but we cannot find Adams there.
We know where this family, both Adams and Lambersons were and where they went, but the big "stone wall" is where they came from!!So to answer Jeremy's question, it is still a mystery.Lots of us would like to find out the answer. My grandfather Adams wrote a letter in 1906 asking about his ancestors, including Conrad Adams. That's all the further back the answer to his letter was able to go.It's been 97 years and still no answer to where he was before that.Does anyone know????
