Searching for any connections of "Miss Lamkin/Lambkin" and husband James Griffin, who went to Texas from Wilcox County, Alabama in mid-1800s. James was born c. 1810-1820 in Georgia/Alabama, son of James Griffin Sr. (born 1787) and Phalby Ford (born 1786/1788) of Wilcox County, AL, who came from South Carolina and Georgia. James Jr. is missing from his parents' household in 1840-1850, so presumably he had married -- and possibly moved away -- by then.
In Wilcox County censuses 1830-1840, LAMKINS/LAMPKINS included Bennett, John, James, Samuel. Was "Miss Lamkin" a daughter of one of these men? Where in Texas did she and James Griffin settle, and do they have descendants? Texas census entries 1850-1860-1870 of various "James Griffins" born in Alabama/Georgia indicate (from births of children) that some of those families lived in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee before moving to Texas. Any further information appreciated.
