Marcia, I have been in England cna cannot remember whether I answered you or not.Thomas Lamkin was not born in Virginia and have no idea where the story that he was Jeremiah Lamkin's son came from. He came into Northumberland and was married when he came.He brought in his second wife as a headright. There is some connection to John Walker, son of Edward Walker of Northumberland who leaves property to Jarningham Lamkin who appears to be the dau. or wife of Thomas Lamkin.Walker also leaves a life estate to Thomas and property to sons of Lamkin, John[John was killed in 1672 when he fell from his horse], and George [from whom I descend].There is a marriage for a Thomas Lamkin at St. Dunstan's Stepney, and there is a lot of connections to that parish of people later in Northumberland VA, who are in my book.George Lamkin I,first in VA, b. c. 1645-50, married Hannah---surname not proven. She married 2nd Samuel Demourval.Their son, George Lamkin II, m. Jane Ashton, dau. of Charles. Their son, George Lamkin III, m. I believe Hannah Atwell, and they moved to Granville County NC. circa 1758, then to Tryon, Lincoln Co. NC circa 1767-8, and then the family is found in 1790 in Spartanburg Co. SC. Hope this saves you some time. All of this with much more is in the book.
